I’ve Got Mail!

Some of you have mentioned to me thru email or in person how cool it was that I bumped into a couple of weddings while vacationing in Finland last month.  You can read about it here: http://heidiramphotography.com/blog/2010/08/16/back-from-vacation .  Here is an update to the story of the beautiful bride photographed moments before she stepped into the church:

Before I left the church I had approached one of the church staff and asked them to pass along my contact info to the bride, mentioning that I was a photographer from Canada, I had taken some pictures, and I really wanted her to have them since there were no other photographers around at that time.

A couple of weeks later I got an email from the Maid Of Honour (who speaks and writes english) who said the bride got my note, they had been to my website and were *thrilled* that I had captured some of her moments and would be delighted to see them.  She provided an address and off I went to the post office to send them a special package.

Well, much to my surprise yesterday I got a special package in the mail from Finland – from the Bride & Groom!! A pair of beautiful hand knit wool socks and a special Thank You note written on a piece of Finnish birch bark!!! How creative – how special!

On a side note, a few of my closest friends know how much I love my wool sock collection. At one time there was a running joke that no one will ever want to marry me because I even wear them in BED!  Yes – it’s true – I wear wool socks to bed.

Anyways, if you’re reading this Mirka & Juhi: “THANK YOU” for your thoughtfulness, I *love* them and thank you also Niina for coordinating us getting connected.  All the best in your future together! xxoo heidi

What a nice story! I think we are some kind of soulmates; I thought only Finns (or I) wear wool socks everywhere, even in bed. :D Socks are made by my (and my brother Juha’s of course) grandmum. Knitting is her hobby, and I’m also learning it. My socks don’t look so nice out, but maybe some day… :D
